Approximately 80 seniors from throughout the community attended the fun-filled event, including residents of assisted living, independent living and retirement facilities.
Life Care Center of Red Bank sponsored the Booker T. Scruggs Ensemble to play live music for dancing, and Life Care Center of Hixson provided a cruise-ship style buffet with food prepared by Chef Lucien Lamontagne. Kathy Goforth, business development manager at Life Care Center of Red Bank, and Kimberly Handley, BDM at Life Care Center of Hixson, helped organize the event.
The prom was especially fun for several different couples.
“We had one couple who celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary that evening,” Goforth shared. “We also had a couple who had dated in high school but were unable to attend their senior prom together, so this was their first prom!”
Just like a senior prom in high school, this Senior Prom involved the crowning of a king and queen. Guests Dick Tonsberg and Ruth Quinn won these titles for being the oldest male and female in attendance.
Several local businesses also donated gift baskets and door prizes, which were given away throughout the evening.
“The attendees loved the evening!” said Goforth. “Everyone wanted to know when we were going to host a dance again.”
